Simulation of power system transients in modern grids with EMTP®

Presentation

The course will be presented in English using the EMTP® software Version 4. The participants can use computers to follow presentations and to perform various exercises. Temporary software licences will be provided to all participants.
Although the course is based on performing simulations with EMTP®, the presentations are on real-world problems on power system transients. The participants will learn and gain knowledge on power system transients, from basic to advanced levels.

 

Training structure 

The duration of the training is 2 days. 
The training starts at 8:30 am and ends at 5:00 pm every day. Lunch breaks are from noon to 1:00 pm.
The training is presented in English.

 

Computer and temporary EMTP® license

The participants will be given access to EMTP® software during the course and can also receive a trial licence for 15 days.

• Commonly used models

• Transmission line and cable models

• Synchronous generator model, exciters and governors

• Switching Transients

• Temporary overvoltages

• transient recovery voltages

• Setup and simulation of distribution and transmission grids

• Setup and simulation of complete systems: from load-flow to switching transients and temporary overvoltages

• introduction to Protection System models in EMTP®: available library, options, setup and analysis

 

Day 2

• Impact of renewables on power systems

• Future of transmission systems

• Wind generation in power systems

• HVDC Systems

General conditions

Participants will have to pay 100% in advance before the course.

Advance payment is required by Credit Card (*3% tax will apply on credit card payment) or by Bank wire Transfer.

Cancellation can be made according to Powersys’ General Conditions for training:

In case you cannot attend the training after having registered, please contact us as soon as possible at h.gras@powersys-solutions.com
In case of cancellation three weeks or more before the beginning of the training, the participants will not be charged.
In case of cancellation less than three weeks before the beginning of the training, Powersys will charge the participant 50% of the training fees.

Please note that Powersys will not reimburse any travel and/or accommodation expenditure in case of cancellation of the training.
We recommend you to make your travel arrangements once the training is confirmed.
