Building short circuit equivalent in EMTP - Phase shifter

Submitted by rpandia on Tue, 06/15/2021 - 01:19

Hi,

I am trying to build a short circuit equivalent in EMTP.

I had created the short circuit equivalent of a large network in ASPEN(using in-built function) and I have a phase-shifter in my ASPEN equivalent which also has a negative sequence component - R2&X2 values.

How can I implement this component in EMTP? I can see a phase-shifter in EMTP but with only positive & zero sequence inputs.

Thanks

Dear Rpandia,

In order to model a shortcircuit equivalent in EMTP, you can use the device "Ac voltage source and impedance" from "sources" library.

It use an ideal voltage source combined with a RL impedance. In the Impedance tab, you can enter the impedances from the short circuit data (voltage, sc power, RL ratio ...) or you can directly enter the sequences (pos, neg and 0) impedances.

Hi,

If you are trying to represent it in EMTP, the RL Coupled device should be enough. You can activate the sequence display in the 3phases version of the RL Coupled device.
