Renewable Energy: Grid Integration Studies - Mexico

Overview

The objective of this training is to present a short course on renewable source integration studies.

This course covers the following topics:

• Get started with EMTP^® (1 day)

• Introduction to scripting with EMTP^®

• Wind park and Photovoltaic park modeling in EMT-type tools

• Renewable energy integration studies: 

  • Load-flow and steady-state

  • LVRT/VRT assessment

  • Harmonic analysis

  • Transformer energization

  • Temporary overvoltages

  • Sub-synchronous Control Interaction (SSCI)

EMTP® is used for all simulations and illustration examples. Practical test cases are provided to illustrate the various concepts. 

 

Intended audience

This course is intended for engineers, researchers, operators and maintenance personnel using simulation software in general. It provides up-to-date technical expertise on renewable energy integration projects.

 

Training structure

The duration is 3 days: October 11-13, 2022 (TBC)

The training starts at 9:30 am to 4:30 pm every day.

Lunch breaks (included in the course fee) are from noon to 1 pm.

 

Computer and temporary EMTP license

Each participant will have to bring a personal computer. EMTP^® temporary licenses will be provided for the duration of the course. 

 

Instructor

Henry Gras, director of EMTP Alliance

His responsibilities include software development, engineering, and sales. He holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from Polytechnique Montreal and a bachelor's degree from Ecole Centrale de Lyon. As an expert in transients in power systems, protections, control, and micro-grids, he conducts webinars and seminars related to these subjects.

Participants will have to pay 100% in advance before the course.

Cancellation can be made according to EMTP’ General Conditions for training:

In case you cannot attend the training after having registered, please contact us as soon as possible at marketing@emtp.com
In case of cancellation three weeks or more before the beginning of the training, the participants will not be charged.
In case of cancellation less than three weeks before the beginning of the training, POWERSYS will charge the participant 50% of the training fees.

Please note that POWERSYS will not reimburse any travel and/or accommodation expenditure in case of cancellation of the training.
We recommend you to make your travel arrangements once the training is confirmed.
